Rockwool
When looking for a popular growing medium that has stood the test of time, Rockwool fits the bill. The most popular hydroponic system for the growing medium would be the drip hydroponic systems. This amazing growing medium was first used many years ago as insulation. Years later it was discovered to be a very dependable growing medium when applied to hydroponics. Fusing sand and rock, which is then melted into a liquid mixture, brings the creation of Rockwool forth. Then taking that mixture into a spin, which will produce the Rockwool fibers that can be molded into various sizes and shapes. Rockwool is a beneficial growing medium because is retains both water and air which are very important to a plants growth. Rockwool is very durable and wont get messy or spill. There are many different sizes to accommodate for small plants and large plants alike. The only difficulty with working with Rockwool is that the pH Levels must be watched attentively and often. Rockwool carries a high pH and you will need to adjust you solution accordingly. It is also important when working with Rockwool not directly breath in hairs dusts or fibers from the product as it can result in health problems.
